LOCATION Caledonian MacBrayne operate the ferry services to Arran from Ardrossan Harbour on the Ayrshire coast and from Clonaig on the Kintyre coast, near the fishing town of Tarbert. Lagg is situated at the southern tip of the island. Stagecoach buses transport visitors to all parts of the island from the ferry at Brodick. By car, turn left out of the harbour and follow the A841 straight to Lagg, passing through the villages of Lamlash and Whiting Bay. The journey is 16 miles long and takes approximately 30 minutes. BY AIRGlasgow International Airport to Ardrossan Harbour – 27 miles. Carrying on your journey by car or taxi takes 45 minutes following signs for Irvine (A737) then Ardrossan Harbour. Airport Shuttle buses take passengers to Paisley Gilmour Street station where a train connection to Ardrossan Harbour can be picked up. Travel time 43 minutes. Prestwick International Airport to Ardrossan Harbour – 17 miles. Carrying on your journey by car or taxi takes 30 minutes. By train take Glasgow Central train to Kilwinning, where a train connection to Ardrossan Harbour can be picked up. Depending on connection times, this can take up to one hour.
